SO ANGRY!

Most poetic people understand the importance of line breaks. This is why the "Rose Petals and Daffodils" post has nearly driven me to my last point of sanity. WHY can't I format a blog post!? Is it possible or am I going insane for a lost cause? I was very disappointed about my line breaks, they make any poem sound so much nicer. Do help a friend :( <3skarlett

  1. I've never had a problem with line breaks. Every now and then I hit post and it formats without them - it hasn't happened in a long time, but as I recall, it usually happened when I cut/paste from another source.

All I would do is go back in and edit the post, and hit 'return' wherever I want to insert the line breaks.

Oh - I always enter my text using the tab that says 'Edit HTML' - not the one that says 'Compose'. That could make a difference! If you're using 'Compose', switch to the Edit HTML tab and see if there's some kind of funky formatting it's putting on there that you don't want. If there is, delete everything out and just paste back in the naked text.

As long as you're in the 'Edit HTML' window it won't make weird format decisions for you. I always put the post in that way, and then if I want to pretty it up later I switch to 'Compose' just to slap the formatting on.

    I hope that helps!

  2. Another thing I thought of: if it absolutely refuses to put in line breaks where you want, you should be able to force the issue by typing in the line-break tag <br> in every place you want a line-break. For example:

Where would we be <br>without flowers? <br>Every single one, <br>a purpose, <br>Though you don't notice. <br><br>Where would a boy be without flowers? <br> Every boy, more nervous, <br>and oh, you would notice... <br>For tart chocolate will never <br>compare, to the silky sensation <br>and crisp incensed smell, <br>the rose leaves upon your heart. <br><br>your garden would be naked, <br>her sparkling jewels stripped <br>from her dress. Inhale Lover, <br>and tell me Where <br><br>would we be without flowers? <br>

Those are just examples - of course if that's too many line breaks just take out the bad ones or reposition as you wish. Good luck with fixing it! I'm no programmer, it sure does drive me nuts when code grows a mind of its own and won't do what it's supposed.

  4. You're welcome!

Isn't it so RIDICULOUS to have to do all that though? Luckily mine has stopped glitching it up like that - good thing I remembered a few of the tricks.

The poem looks great! Good poem. Don't let some cycnical florists swipe it from you!
